The job itself, fellow workers, supervision, company policies, pay, promotion and advancement opportunities, and customers are all dimensions of job satisfaction. Job satisfaction refers to the degree to which an individual feels content and positive about their job, taking into consideration these various aspects that contribute to their overall work experience.

These factors contribute to an employee's overall contentment and motivation in their workplace, impacting their performance and commitment to the organization.  

The five dimensions of job satisfaction that are measured by the JDI are satisfaction with the work itself, satisfaction with pay, satisfaction with supervision, satisfaction with coworkers, and "satisfaction with promotion opportunities".
