Understanding Ribosomes:

Ribosomes are the cellular structures responsible for protein synthesis. The process of making proteins in a cell occurs at ribosomes, which are composed of both RNA and protein.

The ribosome reads the messenger RNA (mRNA) sequence and translates the genetic code into a specific string of amino acids. These amino acids join together to form proteins.

Each cell contains multiple ribosomes, each consisting of two subunits. These subunits come together to enclose the mRNA molecule and decode the codons along its length.

Transfer RNA molecules bind to the ribosome, matching their base sequence with the mRNA. This allows specific amino acids to be added to the growing protein chain.

Once the protein is complete, the ribosome disassembles.
